In California’s Central Valley, agriculture is a really big deal. The San Joaquin Valley boasts the top three ag-producing counties in the state – Fresno, Kern and Tulare Counties, respectively. Given the abundance of fresh produce and family farms, it makes sense that the Central Valley is home to some really amazing farm stands. If you’re looking for a stunning variety of locally grown goodness – and a true taste of the San Joaquin Valley – pull in to one of these standout Central Valley farm stands.
Murray Family Farms Big Red Barn

If you’ve ever traveled down Interstate 58, just south of Bakersfield, you’ve certainly seen the Big Red Barn on the eastern side of the road. This iconic farm stand is famous for offering over 50 varieties of cherries, including many obscure varieties you won’t find elsewhere. If you stop in on a weekend, be sure to ask about U-pick opportunities. This family-owned farm grows hundreds of different fruits and vegetables, meaning there’s always something in season and ready for you to harvest!
Bravo Farms

Bravo Farms is one of the Central Valley’s most famous farm stands – and with good reason. Their eponymous cheeses are a local favorite, but you’ll also find an incredible selection of organic produce, California wines, homemade ice cream and a whole lot more. If you’re traveling with kids, they’ll get a kick out of exploring the quirky seven-story tree house. Grab a bite from the on-site restaurant while they burn off some extra energy, and then stock up on healthy snacks before you hit the road.
Sweet Girl Farms
Tucked away in rural Reedley, Sweet Girl Farms is definitely worth the detour. Owner Liset Garcia prides herself on meeting the needs of her largely Hispanic community, meaning you’ll find tomatillos, peppers, and Mexican herbs alongside the typical offerings. Sweet Girl Farms also offers a stunning assortment of fresh flowers. Do yourself a favor and don’t bother trying to resist buying a bouquet on your way out. It’s a simple way to support this woman-owned farm while adding a little extra beauty to your day. We’d call that a win-win situation.

Simonian Farms
At Simonian Farms, visitors can explore Fresno County’s rich agricultural heritage while stocking up on seasonal produce. In early spring, Simonian Farms is abuzz with customers stopping in on their way to the Fresno County Blossom Trail. Fill your basket with citrus and nuts to nosh on while you wind your way through some of the Central Valley’s most scenic backroads.
Sunflower Farm Stand

Sunflower Farm Stand has garnered quite the following on TikTok and Instagram, thanks to customers sharing photos and videos of the farm’s stunning U-pick sunflower field. Create your own bouquet (just $2 per stem!), snap a few pics, or even call ahead to schedule a photo shoot at the farm. While you’re there, don’t miss the selection of stone fruit grown at the Strambi family’s local orchard.

Gibson Farm Market
Gibson Farm Market at Fresno State is one of the Central Valley’s most unique farm stands. The entire operation, from farming to sales, is run by Fresno State students. Home cooks and restaurant chefs line up to get their hands on Fresno State’s famous sweet corn, but Gibson Farm Market also boasts some of the Valley’s best nuts, wine, fruits, veggies and even ice cream.
Casa de Fruta
Casa de Fruta is arguably California’s most famous farm stand. For many families, stopping at Casa de Fruta on the way to and from the coast isn’t just a treat; it’s a tradition. Everything on the shelves is sourced from local farmers including berries, cherries, avocados, nuts, fresh flowers, honey, jams and more. The seasoned pistachios are a fan favorite, but garlic is the move here, folks. And for newbies, we encourage trying a bottle of their signature pomegranate wine.
Resendiz Fruit Barn

In 1988, Francisco Resendiz and his wife started selling stone fruit from their family farm out of a cooler on the side of the road. Almost 40 years later, the Resendiz Family boasts a thriving permanent fruit stand, complete with an adjacent playground, pond and miniature train. In addition to fresh fruits and vegetables, you’ll find an assortment of house-made salsas, pickles, and sauces, along with a well-curated selection of local products including Fresh Vintage Farms almond + walnut oils (link when published) and Sciabica olive oil.
The Fruit Bowl
At the Fruit Bowl, the Luccheti family is serious about offering super fresh produce. All of the family’s heirloom stone fruit is picked the same day – and owner Ralph jokes that if they run out, they simply walk a few steps into the orchard to pick some more. Spring and summer are peak season at The Fruit Bowl, but the farmstand’s bakery remains open until December so that Lodi area families can enjoy their fresh-baked pies throughout the holiday season.

Phillips Farm Café
Phillips Farm Café offers an assortment of produce grown at the Phillips family’s farm, but the real draw here is two-fold: homemade pie and award-winning wine. Located at the entrance of Michael David Winery’s gorgeous grounds, Phillips Farm Café is famous for its homemade pies, made exclusively with locally grown fruit. Grab a slice of pie, then swing by the tasting room for a sip or two before filling your basket with homegrown fruits + veggies on the way out.
